Rooted in Patience, Guided by Purpose

About Hilm Psychology

Hilm Psychology was born from the belief that healing takes time, tenderness, and trust. Inspired by the Arabic word Hilm, which speaks to forbearance, calmness, and quiet strength – this practice is a reflection of what we hope to offer every client: a space to feel held, heard, and whole.

WE understand that starting therapy—and choosing the right therapist—can feel like a big decision.

That’s exactly why we created Hilm Psychology to offer you a space that feels safe, supportive, and grounding from the very beginning.

The fact that you’re here means something has already shifted. You don’t have to have all the answers. We can take it one gentle step at a time, together.

The Values That Hold This Space

At Hilm Psychology, every part of your journey is approached with care and intention. The word Hilm, meaning forbearance, gentleness, and calm inner strength, inspires not just the name of this practice, but its very foundation. Just like the deep roots of a tree, these core values anchor everything we do. They offer steadiness in moments of uncertainty, strength in times of vulnerability, and nourishment for lasting growth.

1

Patience with the Process

Healing isn’t linear and it isn’t rushed. We honor your timing, your pace, and the natural unfolding of your story. Here, there’s no pressure to “fix” yourself, only space to grow with gentleness and intention.

2

Presence and Deep Listening

You deserve to be fully seen and heard. We approach each session with care and focused presence, creating a space where you feel safe to show up exactly as you are, without judgment or expectation.

3

Compassionate Strength

Hilm reflects quiet strength—the ability to hold space with softness, even in difficulty. We bring that same steadiness into our work, helping you navigate life’s challenges with resilience and grace.

Meet Mahnoor Khan

Registered Psychologist

I get it, life is hard and unpredictable. Finding moments of peace, solace, and calm through the storm can feel overwhelming. We all carry a vision of what we want life to look like, and when reality doesn’t match that vision, it can feel disappointing.

I believe our earliest experiences often shape how we function in the present. While the past doesn’t define the future, understanding where certain patterns originate can pave the way for meaningful change, self-compassion, and deeper connection — with ourselves and with others.

I will honour your story, hold space for difficult conversations, and always approach your experiences with empathy, compassion, and respect. My work is rooted in a trauma-informed and attachment-focused lens, and my goal is to support you in reaching your goals and thriving in your life.
